I’m an easy-going, cereal loving, surfer-wannabe from Winterpeg, Manitoba. My inspiration comes from being with people. I love to laugh. I love to live and make the most of every day.
Getting to where I am today has been a journey; an enjoyable adventure with lots to learn along the way. My love for film started with a mini dv video camera (which was actually an engagement gift), travels to Australia, India, Japan, Thailand, Mexico, and a friend asking me to video her wedding. These experiences, together with the people I have met along the way, have influenced the decisions I’ve made and the passions I’ve pursued. I found what I love to do, and here I am today.
If I’m not filming or editing, you might find me watching a documentary, reading an autobiography, eating a Frosty from Wendy’s, or hanging out with my beautiful wife, Melissa.
Hey, I’m Chris, a fun loving guy born and raised in the lovely land of Winnipeg. I first picked up a video camera ten years ago and haven’t put it down much since. My love for my job as a cinematographer comes from getting to meet new people and helping them to tell their love story through film.
I have had many previous adventures in film, which all play a part in the passion I have for film today. I love the simple act of story telling, specifically visual story telling through film. I have had the opportunity to film, edit and co-produce short and feature films over the years right here in Winnipeg and even travelled to Egypt to film an on location television show.
As much as I love my work, it’s not all I do, when i’m not filming you might find me playing video games, reading a book or wishing I was on a beach. I love my iPhone, a good cup of coffee and my wife Becky (but not in that order ).
“Since the invention of the moving image, the relationship between videographers and photographers could be compared to that of the cat and dog… sometimes even the cat and mouse. Perhaps not a perfect match for a wedding day. I have worked personally with many videographers on numerous events and have experienced the good, the bad and the ugly. Chris & Mark from Paperback Films are beyond good…they’re great. They’re amazing to work with and the feeling is shared among many other wedding vendors across our industry. They’re professional, creative and their work is stunning. It’s always a pleasure to work along side them. Thanks Chris & Mark for everything and I’ll see you at our next wedding!”

“We have had the privilege of working with Paperback Films on numerous occasions. As photographers, working with videographers can sometimes be *gasp* difficult. This is never the case with Paperback Films, Chris and Mark are a photographers dream. They are quick to get the footage they need, while being respectful of the photographers needs as well. They shoot the action as it happens rather than taking extra time to pose a couple or create a scene, which means that we as photographers can go on with our schedule with no interruptions. During a session with Paperback Films we can almost forget that they’re there, and sometimes do, because they are so great at doing what they do without being up close and personal. We always enjoy working with Chris and Mark because not only are they easy to work with but they also add some extra fun to the day with their light and easy approach to shooting. Their final product always demonstrates that same feel: relaxed, fun, natural, and real.”

“I have had the privilege of photographing alongside Mark and Chris for several weddings and I can truly say that they are absolutely wonderful to work with. While both are very professional and hardworking, they are also easy-going and friendly and help to create a fun and relaxed atmosphere on the wedding day. It’s so important for a photographer and videographer to get along and work well together and this has always been the case throughout my experiences with Mark and Chris. What I love about their work is their ability to capture everything as it’s happening. This means the videography doesn’t take any extra time on your wedding day and as a photographer, I am able to be creative and artistic, often times unaware of the work they are doing at the same time. They are extremely talented at what they do and have a real gift of telling stories through film. If you are looking for a quality videography experience, as well as people you can be comfortable with and have the utmost confidence in, you have to check them out!”
