Lainey and Paul grew up down the street from each other in the city of Winnipeg, went to the same elementary school and attended the same summer camp only to meet and fall in love in the city of Toronto. Let’s add one more point, the connection took place on Facebook with the help of some friends and family hoping that this match was meant to be. With the past bringing them so close together you would think they would have many things in common, yet their differences make them the wonderful and engaging couple they are. We wish them the most joyous and adventurous marriage possible!
We had an incredible time filming their wedding which took place at the Fort Garry Hotel and worked along side Curtis Moore Photography, which is always a highlight for us.

Emma + Colin both light up when they are together. They’re a quiet, romantic couple that really take in and appreciate all the little moments that happen throughout a day and the day of their wedding was no different. Both enjoying a range of activities including travel, sports, watching movies, telling jokes and laughing. The ceremony was especially significant with Emma’s father leading the ceremony, bringing everyone together through well chosen, heartfelt words. It’s always a pleasure working with Joel Ross & Jennifer Webber.
Colin really gets Emma and is able to recognize, help and encourage her to follow those dreams as he manages to follow his own. Later at the reception, Colin had shared a quote from his mother about the important things on relationships which they both value and hold dear. “It isn’t so much how often you gaze into each-other’s eyes as long as you put in the effort to gaze in the same direction.” How true and what a beautiful quote to draw on together.

We sat back after the wedding and started storyboarding their adventure. No one forced these two together… it just worked out. There was something special about Ben and Tran’s first dance. Something seemed familiar. To their guests, it was something new. To us, Ben and Tran carried out every turn throughout their day as they kept celebrating. Rehearsing their carefully thought-out steps and twirls. That dance became a major thread in their story; it was exhilarating to see how they all just fit together – almost flawlessly.
As always, the day flew by so fast and there was truly special moments for us. After dinner, we accompanied Curtis Moore to the river bank at the Gates on Roblyn during sunset. These two lost themselves in the moment. It could not have been a more perfect cap to the day (it did get better). The water was still and the air was filled with tiny dandelion seeds dancing around, giving us a a beautiful canvas as they continued dancing. We feel so fortunate to have been part of their special day. They truly made us feel apart of their family. Thank to Curtis Moore of Moore Photography and Melissa from the Gates on Roblyn. It’s always a pleasure working with a great team.
]]>Krista and Chris both met later in their lives, but they both agreed, they found each-other to be well worth the wait.
Chris might very well be the nicest guy we’ve ever worked with. Not only could he beat us in any arm wrestling match, but his amazing journey into the body building world is a story anyone would enjoy. His dedication to diet, exercise and good living is something the Paperback boys could learn from :) Krista and Chris’s gifts for each-other were both so genuine, creative and thoughtful. Between an inside joke from Chris to Krista and a handcrafted book of their journey together through photographs, these were special moments we were so happy to capture and share.
Krista got to the point where she didn’t know if she could trust her own judgement anymore. It was then, in 2009, where she gave it to God. It’s funny how life works when you give up a little control. They both gave an online system a chance, just to try it out. A little magic, and typically on points of personality people are matched with 100, 200. Krista got 7. It only took one and coincidentally, we found out at their reception that they would have met through a friend if that hadn’t worked out. Small world. But when you’re destined to meet, it just works out. Life is like a puzzle and each piece serves a purpose and fits into life’s picture, as Krista put it. We hope you enjoy the way we configured their day’s pieces in their film!
]]>Everything about Jennifer and Stephane’s wedding felt like a fairytale. The weather, location, the atmosphere and the obvious match that they are for each other all had a part to play in their story. They’re both young, passionate individuals who both devote a lot of their time lifting each other up. If the stories we heard at the reception were any indication of their character, they’re both incredible people.
One moment that particularly stood to us was the first time they saw each other. Earlier in the morning, Jennifer formulated how she felt about Steph in a note. The excitement they equally shared in seeing one another was complimented with this intimate moment, reading through the letter. We saw how grounded and led by faith they are. All of this had played a major part in their same-day-edit and we’re happy we can share their story with everyone.

It doesn’t care where you came from, but only that you are together… the power of love that brought Kiet and Adrian together will continue to reach beyond those boundaries and touch and heal many people. This day was filled with many cultural and emotional celebrations, filming all this kept us on our toe’s. We absolutely loved their first dance! These two are very driven and talented individuals and seeing them together moving across the dance floor topped off the day. What an incredibly fun day this was and we are so inspired by their story. A huge thank you to Bond and Leah from BLF Studios. Check out their stunning photo’s from Kiet & Adrian’s wedding. Thank you Melissa, as well, for filming with us.

Incredible heartfelt couples that are truly head over heels for each other are only found in fairy tales, right? Well we assure you they happen in real life and when we had our first meeting with these two it was so amazing to sit and laugh, chatting about all kinds of things and hearing about how they met. Yes, a couple truly in love. Just a self realization note to add in here; we have found that after our first meeting with our couples we generally have a good idea of what they are like and what they are into, and when the wedding day comes around a different part of them comes to life. So, for Ayli and Phil we would say we were completely mesmerized by how close they are to their families and how head over heels they really are for each other. The first look was the much anticipated moment of the day and watching Phil’s reaction to seeing Ayli for the first time could melt anyone’s heart. Phil is a groom that we would describe as a noble, upstanding gentleman, who will stand firm through the test of time. Our utmost respect and adoration for these two, you both are incredibly loving people!
Ayli and Phil like a wide variety of music and we were very inspired by Adele, as Ayli had her playing in the background while getting ready. We like to be inspired by new music and artists that fit the Paperback Films feel and for this highlights we were drawn into the intensity of Arms by Christina Perri. Being able to get in so close at the ceremony and being right part of the action helped to bring their story along and as the song builds you feel the breaking of the glass approaching, symbolizing the broken world we live in with the hope that new love and life can heal all those who suffer. At the sound of the breaking glass, family and friends shout “Mazel Tov!” which means good luck and congratulations. Then the happily ever after comes…
Special Thanks: Jennifer from Wink | Wedding and Event Planning, Bond and Kim from BLF Studios. If you hadn’t already seen the trailer, check it out here!

As you all know we love outdoor weddings, and Lauren’s parents backyard was sweet. They had raked leaves the day before attempting to preserve the nice lush green grass! The large tree overhanging the yard made for a lovely setting for the ceremony. Once the guest started to arrive we quickly noticed how visually stunning and powerful this setting was.
Adam and Lauren actually decided to go with us for their wedding as a result from seeing another wedding’s trailer we did a few weeks earlier; we are certainly glad they did. Once again Paperback finds ourselves blessed to be in the midst of so many people who allow us to do our work. To be given a 100% creative control on the wedding day is so appreciated. It takes a lot to trust us with one of the most important days in their lives. We don’t take it for granted.
Thank you so much for this opportunity, Lauren and Adam. You are so meant to be together! Enjoy! We would also like to say thanks to Jeremy Hiebert of Jeremy Hiebert Photography and Andrea Mancini of Soiree Event Planning. As always, great to work with you both!
